A British artist by the name of Sam Taylor-Wood has created a series of photographs called, "Crying Men". She asked 26 well-known actors to let down the wall of stoic masculinity and allow the camera to capture a vulnerable moment.
I wanted to share the link here because I was rather moved viewing these portraits -- particularly the one featuring Hayden Christiansen. I love the overall idea she was going for. So often we see women in vulnerable moments but rarely men. And it's not that I like to see men cry, but it's comforting to know that they feel things as deeply as I do. That they have their moments of weakness when the world falls too heavily on their shoulders. I know that men are human and they cry from time to time, but this series of photographs was a bittersweet, beautiful reminder of that.
And I just admire her for creating this project and I admire the actors who participated for their courage and generosity. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
