HBP Spoiler -- Shame on you if you have not seen or read it yet
Lightning Struck TowerThe cruel death of a brother,
When already bereft of father and mother.
The murder of one so patient and wise,
Half-moon spectatcles, ancient eyes.
An ambiguous plea,
"Severus... please."
A promise kept,
A wand sideways swept.
Green light flashes and slams him back,
His body falls, fade to black.
Friend and mentor, shining light,
Go not quiet into that good night.
The only major problems I have with the movie versions of OOTP and HBP are the lack of fierce emotion from Harry when two of the most important people in his life ARE MURDERED!!! Jeebus, fuckin' break something Harry! When I read OOTP, there was so much tension, so much emotion that I myself wanted to break every single thing in Dumbledore's office. And when Dumbledore falls over the side of the tower I just wanted to tear Snape limb from limb (even though he's always been my favorite character).
And then... the watered-down movie endings. Harry is so calm at the end of both OOTP and HBP. What the F? I can't stand it. I wanted to see Harry break the spindly gizmos and see Dumbledore quietly respect Harry's pain. I wanted to SEE Dumbledore's funeral! I wanted Harry and Ginny to weepily hold each other in front of a white tomb!! Like that would have taken so much more time to film?!? Bah!
ANYWAY! ... to allay my frustrations, I wrote the above poem. I hope you enjoy it. Comments on the movies and the poem are welcomed, friends.
